Import vehicle preparation report - 2015 Daihatsu Copen Xplay LA400K Khaki (Part 1)
The 2015 Daihatsu Copen Xplay LA400K (khaki) that we recently acquired at auction has arrived at our partner Wadachi's inspection facility.
As this vehicle is a 2015 model, it is exempt from IVA inspection, and modifications can be imported as is without issue. Of course, it must pass MOT inspection, so excessive modifications will be reverted to stock parts. Any missing or faulty parts will be repaired before shipment.
For the second-generation Copen, it is more cost-effective to procure and replace parts domestically in Japan before shipment. Therefore, our policy is to conduct thorough inspections and maintenance as preventative maintenance, in accordance with Japan's legal inspection and maintenance requirements.
Furthermore, if the customer wishes, it is possible to replace parts with aftermarket parts at this stage.
Now, let's look at the inspection results report from today.
The engine area is standard. There were no problems with its condition, so we will proceed with the fluid maintenance as planned.
The exhaust system was fitted with an HKS exhaust. This is a selling point, isn't it? I think it's a feature that customers will appreciate.
The interior, which has the black interior package, also seems to be in good condition. At 10 years old and with 48,000 miles on the odometer, it's in pretty good shape.
The windshield has some small stone chips, but it should be fine for import as is.
The active top and test drive results were also fine.
However, the front and rear bumpers were in poor condition, so we removed them to inspect the core supports and found damage to the core support components. We will replace these.
While we're at it, we'll replace the front and rear bumpers as well. Since the second-generation Copen isn't exactly cheap to begin with, we don't want to disappoint the customer by delivering it with damaged bumpers.
And regarding the suspension, as expected, it had lift-up springs installed. While this is fine as is, we decided to go for a more serious lift-up damper to give it a more off-road feel.
I'll talk more about this in the next blog post. Stay tuned!
