I'll write about today's near miss. Ultimately, I lost the auction, but a rather interesting vehicle came up at a reasonable price that might be helpful to future customers.
The auction sheet for this vehicle listed a rating of 4.5 (interior rated B), 2015 model year, approximately 97,000 km (60,625 m) mileage, ENKEI alloy wheels, Kakimoto exhaust, oversized rear wing, DSPORT door mirrors, aftermarket adjustable suspension, and carbon-fibre-look instrument panel.
There's no mention of the engine bay, but it's easy to imagine that a lot has been done!
I wanted this! I wanted to add it to our inventory! So I conducted an appraisal. The vehicle's condition is good, so the key was how much to value the aftermarket parts. However, I couldn't just inflate the market price unnecessarily.
Therefore, I set a cap of 30% above the standard winning bid price for a vehicle in good condition... I lost.
It seems there were multiple bidders competing this time, and it was sold for about 145% of the standard price. It's disappointing.
Next time, if a well-modified vehicle like this is put up for auction, I'll try a little harder.
