The CROSS Magic Tank achieves smoother and sharper acceleration, increased power and torque across the entire range, improved turbocharger durability, with a boost pressure adjustment function (increase boost pressure by approximately 0.1-0.2 kg).
Most turbocharged vehicles use a factory-fitted part called a "VSV" to control boost pressure. The "VSV" operates based on signals from the computer, adjusting boost pressure depending on the vehicle's conditions and circumstances, such as lowering boost pressure when the water temperature is low or during sudden acceleration.
However, due to the VSV's structure, pulsation occurs during operation. This pulsation causes the wastegate valve, which controls the turbocharger's boost pressure, to open and close rapidly, resulting in poor acceleration and power loss at high RPMs.
This pulsation can also sometimes produce an unpleasant intermittent noise from the air cleaner. Installing the "Magic Tank" significantly reduces pulsation, improving acceleration and power while also eliminating unpleasant operating noise. Stabilising wastegate movement reduces unnecessary turbocharger movement and enhances durability.
Structure (Air Flow) and Power Test
VSV pulsation is most pronounced during acceleration. Power tests during acceleration (kept in second gear) were carried out with/without the Magic Tank installed.
The results showed a 3.2 horsepower increase at high RPMs, a 0.6 kg increase in torque, and an approximate four horsepower increase during acceleration. (Results may vary)
This horsepower increase, noticeable not just at high RPMs but also during gentle acceleration, is immediately apparent to anyone. The power increase during acceleration is effective for city driving, where the throttle is frequently used on and off, allowing for stress-free, enjoyable driving.
