Import vehicle preparation report - 2020 Toyota Copen GR Sport LA400A Red (Part 5)
The current location of the RORO ship carrying the 2020 Toyota Copen GR Sport LA400A (red), which departed Yokohama Port in September, has been determined. It appears to be sailing smoothly off the coast of Singapore.
According to reports, it is sailing south through the Indian Ocean, passing off the coast of South Africa, and is expected to arrive at Southampton Port in early November.
Since the original documents required for customs clearance and registration are almost complete, we will begin preparations for pickup. Many people are likely interested in this matter, so let me briefly explain.
Customs clearance will be carried out upon arrival in Southampton by a customs broker designated by the HMRC. The most important document required at this time is the original Bill of Lading. In other words, the customs duties will be paid, and the vehicle will be received in exchange for the original BOL.
The BOL is issued in Japan upon departure from Yokohama Port, so it must be obtained from Japan. Because it is an important document, three original copies are issued. When obtaining a BOL (Bill of Lading), use a reliable courier company and initially obtain only the first original copy. This is to minimize the risk of loss.
Next, the export certificate is required for IVA testing and vehicle registration. This is issued by the Japanese government. Only a limited number are issued, so extra care is needed when obtaining them.
Other minor documents may be required, but PDFs are acceptable, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem once you get used to it.
