Import vehicle preparation report - 2015 Daihatsu Copen Cero LA400K Blue (Part 1)
The inspection of the 2015 Daihatsu Copen Cero LA400K (blue) that we recently won at auction has been completed, and we have received a detailed inspection report from our partner company, Wadachi. Just how bad is its condition?
We won this vehicle at about 30% less than a vehicle in good condition, so the interior and exterior are in poor condition. Today, having grasped the details, we will decide on a repair plan.
Judging from the exterior, this vehicle has been in an accident. There were no R-points (indicating a repair history) in the auction evaluation, so it shouldn't have been a very serious accident.
First, there is damage to the brake light unit. This will be replaced in Japan.
Next, there are scratches and paint peeling caused by contact. Since the vehicle has many scratches of various sizes, we evaluated whether they could be repaired by polishing or partial repair, or whether entire panels would need to be replaced. Based on the evaluation, we determined that the exterior repair work is possible at our company. Actually, since we're installing a full body kit, we can just leave the parts that will be hidden by the kit as they are (lol). We're really short on time!
Also, the interior is quite scratched and dirty, but with our restoration techniques, it can be restored to a beautiful condition.
Finally, regarding the engine, transmission, brakes, and suspension. Since the demo car is planned for track use, this is our area of expertise, so we won't be doing any maintenance in Japan!
Oh, and we've decided to install three large parts in Japan before loading them onto the ship, since they would be costly to air-freight or have transportation restrictions due to being classified as hazardous materials. I'll write about this in the next blog post.
