This kit contains four items: an all-aluminium large capacity intercooler (W700mm x H230mm x D50mm), an intercooler outlet hose, a front bar, and an orphis unit.

The UNFAZE INTERCOOLER is an intercooler designed specifically for the LA400 Copen, boasting cooling performance far surpassing that of the stock intercooler.
By pursuing a balance of cooling efficiency and capacity, it stabilises intake air temperatures even under harsh driving conditions. Unlike the typical 'general-purpose core with added side tanks,' the core itself is custom-designed from scratch to fit the vehicle.

High-Efficiency Design x Bolt-On
The key performance factors for an intercooler are its surface area, volume, and mass. A large surface area is essential for efficient absorption of road airflow. However, simply increasing volume is not enough; it is vital to balance volume with thickness to ensure proper airflow.
The UNFAZE intercooler features an extremely high-density inner fin structure within the core. The tightly spaced, regularly spaced fins maximise the heat transfer area within the intake passage, ensuring sufficient contact time between the air and the aluminium. This efficiently transfers intake heat to the fins and significantly enhances heat dissipation to the outside air. A 50mm thickness was also selected to ensure efficient airflow.
Compared to conventional coarse-density cores, this offers superior heat exchange performance, minimising intake temperature increases even under high-thermal load conditions such as full-throttle driving and idling. This results in a stable combustion environment, helping to prevent knock and power loss.
A dedicated front bar has also been developed to allow installation without significant modifications. It can be installed with a bolt-on system. Even the smallest brackets on this front bar have been carefully designed.
The piping is made with the same five-layer silicone and four-layer mesh structure as the pressure-resistant intake hose. Since it's visible from the front grille, you can choose between light blue or black for the hose colour.
Overwhelming Cooling Power
A Copen was driven at full throttle in a summer rally under high outside temperatures. With the stock intercooler, intake temperatures reached a staggering 120°C! Furthermore, even during two or three consecutive full-throttle runs in a Dynapack test environment, with a large fan replicating the wind conditions, the intake temperature easily exceeded 70°C with the stock intercooler. In this environment, the more you press the accelerator, the higher the intake temperature rises, resulting in an unavoidable drop in engine power. Furthermore, in the case of the Copen, if knocking occurs while the intake temperature is high, the car will enter failsafe mode. This will result in a power drop below standard, making the management of intake temperature essential.
However, installing the UNFAZE INTERCOOLER completely changes the situation. Even when measured under the same conditions using Dynapack, intake temperatures remained stable in the 30°C range. Furthermore, a vehicle equipped with this product at Rally Japan recorded an intake temperature of 44°C during the most demanding idling conditions. Even then, it boasts incredible cooling capacity, instantly restoring temperatures to the 30°C range as soon as you start driving.
