Import vehicle preparation report - 2015 Daihatsu Copen Cero LA400K (Part 6)
The 2015 Daihatsu Copen Cero LA400K (red) that arrived last week passed the MOT test, so we immediately submitted the registration application to the DVLA. Once registration is complete, we will know the license number, and after attaching the license plates, we will finally be able to start sales. To our customers who are waiting, please be patient a little longer.
Today, I'd like to talk about the preparations before taking the MOT test.
After a sea voyage of over two months, the vehicle arrives dusty, so first we wash it with water. At this time, we carefully inspect and record the vehicle's condition as reference data for the deep-cut polish to be performed later.
The windshield has transportation-related information written on it, and various contact papers are attached, so we remove them and clean the windshield.
Next, we reinforce the rear fog light harness. We reinforce the exposed wiring with corrugated tubing and waterproof the cut grommets with sealant. In the case of the Copen Cero, the lower-right reverse light is converted into a fog lamp.
The Copen's speedometer is analogue, so changing it to miles is easy; it only requires replacing the meter fascia. However, the replacement process requires extreme caution. There is a risk of damaging parts or misaligning the needle.
This time, we'll replace it with our company's original speedometer fascia. You can choose between black and white.
Finally, after checking the lights and their operating sequence and the tyre pressure, a test drive around the neighbourhood completes the preparation.
The MOT test was conducted at the local MOT centre. They thoroughly inspected it, and it passed without any problems.
That's great!
